High Risk Support Services

Previously known as Domestic Violence Emergency Response System (DVERS) and SupportLink

To reach High Risk Support Services call: 416 808-7077

This program promotes the safety of individuals and their families who are considered at high risk of losing their lives due to:
  • Domestic Violence
  • Sexual Assault
  • Stalking (criminal harassment)

Services provided:

  • Monitored ADT personal home alarm system, 911 linked (a panic button is worn on the person while at home, currently only available to victims of Domestic Violence)
  • 911 linked cell phone

A program co-ordinator works with the client to develop a comprehensive safety plan that covers the client’s safety as well as any children, other family members and/or friends who may be at risk as a result of the violence. This is most effectively performed in the home.

A program co-ordinator provides on-going case management which includes monthly re-assessment of needs, supportive counselling, monitoring, advocacy, referring/linking and or co-ordination of services.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Client must reside in the City of Toronto
  • Client must be at least 18 years of age
  • Client does not already possess equipment
  • The home alarm system is currently available only to victims of domestic violence.
  • To receive the home alarm system the accused must have been charged and there must be an enforceable order of protection. To receive the cell phone the client only needs to have reasonable grounds to believe they are at risk.
  • Willing to co-operate with the Criminal Justice System including any protection orders
  • Client is not residing with the accused
