Victim Quick Response Program

The Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) provides short-term (one to three months) Intensive Case Management Services to victims of major crimes and their families.

The program responds to the unique and individual needs of each client through the provision of the following services:

  • Crisis intervention and emotional support
  • Brief solution-focused counseling
  • Practical assistance – such as assistance with obtaining visitors visas, making funeral arrangements, locating housing, locating relatives, retrieving belongings at a crime scene, and so forth.
  • Assistance with managing bureaucracies – such as Criminal Injuries Compensation, Board Applications, Insurance Claims, applications for Visitors Visas, and so forth.
  • Advocacy on behalf of clients on a variety of issues with Chief Coroner’s office, government services, embassies, employers, educational institutions
  • Linking clients to appropriate services within their community including: Long-term therapy, Legal services, Child care, Medical services, Support groups, and so forth.
  • Accompaniment and support at court and various hearings
  • Coordinating a range of services.
  • Assisting victims in accessing financial resources for funerals, crime scene clean-up, emergency home repairs, emergency child care, emergency travel, emergency accommodation and counseling

VQRP provides assistance to victims (and families) of the following crimes:
  • Assault causing serious bodily harm
  • Attempted murder
  • Domestic violence
  • Hate crimes
  • Homicide
  • Sexual assault
